Association History
You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every association of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today and continuing the Kappa tradition beyond college.
Did you know that we have Madison Alumnae Association Meeting Minutes handwritten from 1938-1963? It’s fascinating to read back through those records! In 1938, a gift of $10 was given to the Kappa House. Just like now, they had Rummage Sales and women played Bridge. In 1938, Founders Day was held in Tripp Commons Memorial Union. We sent members to Convention in Hot Springs, VA that year too. And in one of the alumnae meetings, they showed “moving pictures”.
Throughout all the meeting minutes, Kappas were coming together to support other Kappas, not just in Madison, but also in Miami, Milwaukee, and at the chapter level. Be sure to check out the Madison AA archives at the next event!
Madison Alumnae Association was founded June 30, 1914. We are 100 years old! We have 319 Kappa alumnae in Madison. We work with and support Eta Chapter, UW-Madison.
